“If you want a friend, feed any animal.”
~ Jane’s Addiction
She is but one. The moon-the sun. Twirling around. Never touching the ground. A crisis averted. Her mind asserted. To me, one with touch. Not given to such. Holding on tight. And try as she might. The one that stands before. Has seen through the lore. The capture was done. She had gone and come. He came to the belief. Her beauty to release.
If the greatest trick the Devil ever pulled. Is convincing the world he didn’t exist. Then who is the one telling us all. We had better resist. The battle between good and evil. Is happening every day. If you look close enough, you can see it all around. So be careful who you hold close, trust, and obey. Will you find glory or sorrow in the end. The war is raging on in everyone’s eyes. And at times we feel pulled. But make no mistake of devious lies. As you can see. I have made my choice. God or the Devil. One in the same voice.
Existing consciously. Falling helplessly. Attempting to understand. On a stage so grand. A pinpoint in time. What can we hope to find? A speck in space. Decisions made in haste. What feel, touch, and imagine. Which is more real the sensation or the dragon? Can we trust our senses? And the input that is relentless. Seeing is not believing. Understanding not knowing. It’s up to us to decide. Forever we cannot hide. They say every problem has a solution. Those thoughts are steeped in dissolution. By whom will I be told. To go forth and behold. All the while, this weight clings heavy. Not allowing me, I’m not ready. I must wait and pay the price. It’s not a matter of wrong; it’s a matter of right. This puzzle with just one piece. So many choices and so little relief.
As I stood, she spoke. Her words hit hard. And then I awoke. A moment caught off guard. It had been so many years. Since last, I had seen her. All the happiness -All the old fears. A peeling of flesh the shedding of fur. What we were all could see. In day and throughout the night. But what had become could never be. Darkness had overcome the fading of the light. At once, she was so much. Too many voices to contend. The turbulence became such. That the breaking should begin. Now here we meet. And time has slipped by. Is it hard for you to keep? Your locked feelings inside?
The final scene approaches. As we walk to the door. Everybody reaches. Wanting for more. The night is not ours. To run out and play. With only the light of the stars. Showing us the way. Yet we turn, and we try. To make this our own. Looking to the night sky. With hopes of being shown. With people all around. We just see each other. Together we are bound. Lost in the never. This old love. Is who we have been. If you start with love. You’ll have it in the end.
The moment has come and gone, still, it persists. I’ve tried to forget-I’ve tried to resist. The ice is calling me again. Its voice never ends. That faint memory of death. Taken in slowly with each and every breath. The icy waters hold. With warm embracing cold. I clawed for the surface if just for a moment. The depths pulled swiftly and tightly; I felt its aloneness. The thing I remember most about my last night. Was the sound that echoed from the cracking of the ice. It’s winter as once before. And of this, you can be sure. If you listen to the night. You’ll hear me falling through the ice.
Am I awake I can’t be certain. The shades are drawn-I’ve pulled the curtains. Hope flutters from my side. This person I’ve become that precise disguise. A million deaths-Every hour I’ve died. With laughter and wonderment, I desperately cried. In this world, I’ve created-This world I see. What is never was and what isn’t will be? Who is to say what I believe in now? The one who was me is forgotten somehow. But maybe just maybe someday I’ll return. To light up a resistance and watch it burn. With this apathy, I’ve become. With this apathy, I’m done. This time I will change. While forever the same.
We are within. With our original sin. Where can we go? To whom will it show? A Devils device. What we all sacrifice. Isn’t always known to others. This darkness falls and smothers. Me, I’m not alone. In what has been shown. This original sin. Is where we all begin. The end will always call. It defines us all. The beginning seems wrong. Till we find a place, we belong. This wonderful original sin. Every now and then. Comes bubbling to thought. No matter how hard we feel, we have fought.
I lay here unwilling. My days have come to a close. You sit there, hoping. Living what you chose. The machines have kept me. Here along with you. Do in what you believe. And all that we knew. Eventually, the time comes. Eventually, we all leave. The people lost-These are the ones. That we wish to see. What will you decide? As you sit by my side. Will you miss me in kind? Or leave me behind? Your action is called upon. Try to be strong. Your decision is now. Just remember me somehow.
They came at night. With blinding sight. To whom should I tell? From the heavens, they fell. One by one. With many more to come. Are these the ones who’d been cast out? Some questioned-Others no doubt. Had the kingdom been feld? To our hopes we held. Like shooting stars only more. They fell to the ocean and washed ashore. The people came close with a faithful stare. Wing-clipped angels, naked and bare. The end has begun, one stood and said. For he is gone-God is dead. The people refused to believe. Even though what they could hear and see. The one who had spoken continued to say. Evil reigns in heaven-Its the end of days. You, as Gods favorite, will be the last to go. We were the first the Devils power to show. As the people looked up, the sky burst into flame. What have we done-Are we to blame?
Quartered and beheaded. The grave is readied. I will rise once again. Certain to bring your end. Ran through with a sword. Beaten by the hoard. I will rise forever. To deliver your never. Hung from the noose. My blood let loose. I am your higher power. Before me, you cower. Now it is you. And this I will do. All you’ve done to me. Is all you’ll receive.
I cherish a life. That yearns for the light. Those minds so innocent. Never to relent. With a child’s hope. The words that are spoke. Forever in wonder. Of knowledge they hunger. For you this, I wish. That you shall never miss. A dream that comes true. By just being you. This story is said. As you lie in your bed. Goodnight my little mind. Look, and you will find. We all believe we should. With help, they all could. Become what is love. And always rise above.
Shadows hovering within sunsets grip. Nothingness in darkness, we slowly slip. To roam the fields without fear. And swallow the visions of what they hold near. Moonlights glow covers the way. One must be-There are rules to obey. With wanting lust and veins to bleed. The night becomes of wants and need. Following in the ever open hunt. From deep forest to waterfront. This hunger will never for now be. In pleasure and pain, they will appease. The stars suddenly elegantly grow dim. A wrathful sunrise to begin. Hidden, waiting, and turning once more. This is always as the night before.
I am found-I resisted. The voices have insisted. All that I’ve done. All that I’ve become. Beautifully broken is the heart. Alone and helpless, we start. Together we try and become. More than what can be undone. With broken desires we reach. In this darkness together meet. The more I hope-The more you try. Between these truths and wanting lies. Here and only here am I bound. You’re getting closer I am found. With crippled legs I try to run. More than us-We are undone.
