My Laptop Died❌❗

Hello everyone. Well late last night, my beloved laptop kicked the bucket. I now have to find a suitable replacement and quickly since I have joined camp NaNo in July. With that said my posts here on ‘A Writer’s Existence’ might take a hit for about a week. I’ll do what I can from my phone, so I hope you will forgive the brevity of my regular posts. If anyone has any suggestions on a good laptop for writing and Internet research feel free to drop a line in the comments section. Thanks and have great day.

    That’s a pain.

I found laptops to be generally quite unreliable over the years but the Toshiba Satellite Pro series seem to be the best of the crop I’ve used.

If your up on Apple get a iPad. It can do everything a laptop can do and faster. I’ve had my iPad mini for 6years now using it for photography, digital art, word processing plus more, and it still runs perfectly.

Good luck and I hope your back up and running soon with a new computer ✌🏻

I also do quite a bit of writing on an iPad. If you have Word 365, you can sync all your devices, phone included, so you can start writing on one device, then pick up where you left off on another. As for laptops, I own a HP Envy that I’ve had for quite a few years. I’ve always been satisfied with their products.

  3. Oh no, Edward! Sorry to hear that, I can’t offer any advice, as my laptop is a bit old, but hope you get sorted with a new one soon!

  4. 🙂 Are you 100% sure that your laptop died? Sometimes, the culprit is the power supply unit.

Over the last 10 years I’ve gone though about 7 laptops. Because I design cards on them and then all of the writing I do they just give up on me. I work the hard drive to much.

I’ve have an HP Pavilion 360 at the moment, but I have to say that when this one dies on me I will be replacing it with a MacBook Pro. They are much faster and I can do most of what I do on a Windows laptop or desk top. The only thing I can’t do on Apple is my card designing as that only runs on Windows but I do have an older Windows 7 pc that has got a better capacity than my laptops and I’ve also take this off line so it will hopefully still keep going for a long time.

Most laptops are only made to last a couple of years these days but Apple do seem to last longer, from all of my research before I bought my iPad Pro at the beginning of 2018.

If you get a laptop that runs on SD it is much faster that the usual hard drive laptops but they don’t cope well with multiple programs running at the same time and the memory is a lot smaller, so you need to have an external hard drive or cloud storage I have to say I have both types of storage and I back up all the time.

    • Thanks for the tip. I don’t know if I can go to the ‘Dark Side’ and go with Apple. That’s a big step😀

I know it does feel that way. Using Apple products is a bit of learning curve as it is different to windows more I think if you know your windows programs inside out which is what I find a bit frustrating at times.

I’d go to somewhere like PC World and get their advice and don’t go at the weekend as you tend to get sales people who don’t know their products quite as well and will sell you anything.

        Do you have PC World?

      • No, but we have a Best Buy. Think it’s the same?
