As I stood—She spoke
Her words hit hard
And then I awoke
A moment caught off guard

It had been so many years
Since last, I had seen her
All the happiness—All the old fears
A peeling of flesh—The shedding of fur

What we all could see
In day and throughout night
But what had become could never be
Darkness had overcome the fading of light

At once she was so much
Too many voices to contend
The confusion became such
That the breaking should begin

Now here we meet
And time has gone by
Is it hard for you to keep
Your locked feelings inside
